About Adrian

I am tertiary educated with a Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies and hold a Diploma of Accounting from TAFE NSW. I have over 5 years of experience as a private tutor catering to both primary and junior high school students in a range of subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, Studies of the Society and Environment (SOSE), History and Basic Computing. I have been commended by the students that their understanding has significantly improved and that their test results and hence, unit/course results were better upon working under my guidance. I am currently looking to broaden my experience by not only primary and junior high school students but senior high school students.

About the lesson

I start my class with a 'Mind Warm-Up.' A warm-up method that I use is to ask students to find the mistakes planted in material written on the board.

I have interactive classroom discussions. For example, after a short lecture, I encourage students to share stories related to the content.

I use technology to boost learning. By using technology in teaching-learning, I am able to go beyond the paper, pencil and textbook and connect with students on an authentic level.

I teach with a sense of humor. Humor is an effective medium of teaching.

I create teamwork tactics that emphasize accountability. By including teamwork exercises into my weekly curriculum, the students are able to benefit from the activities on a personal, group and class-wide level.

I encourage self-directed learning. Self-directed learning that is aligned with appropriate classrooms goals helps students feel involved in their education.
