Learn Sanskrit – The Language of Wisdom

As an Assistant Professor in Sanskrit and a Gurukula graduate with teaching experience since 2010, I combine traditional learning with modern pedagogy. My deep research in rare texts like Dhanurveda and my work with ancient manuscripts give me the ability to bring Sanskrit alive in the classroom, beyond grammar and vocabulary.

This short-term course is not just about learning a language—it is about entering a vast ocean of knowledge. Through step-by-step guidance, learners will:

Understand basic ślokas and common Sanskrit texts with clarity.

Build a strong foundation in grammar and word formation, the doorway to advanced study.

Cultivate the ability to explore India’s classical heritage—from philosophy and Ayurveda to poetry and epics—in their original form.

Gain confidence in reading and interpreting texts, making Sanskrit a living experience rather than a distant subject.

Sanskrit is the soul of Indian knowledge traditions, and learning it is like holding a master key to the treasures of the Vedas, Upanishads, Yoga, Ayurveda, and the epics. This course is your first step on that journey, designed to empower you with both understanding and inspiration.

I believe Sanskrit is not only for scholars, but for everyone who seeks clarity of thought, cultural rootedness, and personal growth.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

“I teach Sanskrit, one of the world’s most ancient and profound languages. My interest began during my student days when I discovered not only its beauty in grammar and literature but also its deep connection with philosophy, Ayurveda, and Indian knowledge traditions. The way Sanskrit preserves timeless wisdom inspired me to dedicate myself to studying and teaching it.”
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

“My motivation comes from my own teachers who guided me with patience and dedication. They showed me that teaching is not just about delivering knowledge, but about shaping character and inspiring curiosity. I wanted to continue that tradition, and teaching Sanskrit allows me to share both intellectual and cultural values with students.”
  • How does your work help society?

“By teaching Sanskrit, I am helping to preserve and promote a vast treasury of knowledge that is highly relevant even today—whether in yoga, Ayurveda, ethics, or literature. At the same time, my work strengthens cultural roots and helps students develop clarity of thought, discipline, and respect for tradition, which ultimately benefits society as a whole.”
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

“I think of scholars like Pāṇini for his discipline and systematization of grammar, and also of modern teachers who make ancient knowledge accessible to today’s generation. They remind me that true scholarship lies not only in mastery of knowledge but also in the ability to pass it on meaningfully.”
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

“Outside teaching, I enjoy reading classical texts, writing, and exploring connections between Sanskrit and other disciplines like Ayurveda and history. I also like participating in cultural events, traveling to heritage sites, and listening to classical music, which deepens my appreciation for India’s traditions.”
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

“One of my students once told me that learning Sanskrit not only helped him score marks but also improved his concentration and confidence. It was heartwarming to see how a subject often considered difficult could transform a student’s outlook. Experiences like these remind me why I chose teaching.”
