About Niall

With over 6 years of teaching experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance, I approach violin not just as a skill, but as a path to self-discovery. My teaching blends technical development with emotional and creative exploration. I focus on helping students use music as a means of self-expression, emotional release, and storytelling. Through mindfulness-based practices, we turn playing into a calming and reflective experience. I often incorporate improvisation, journaling, and soundscape creation to support personal growth and reduce stress. My sessions are gentle, flexible, and deeply student-centered. I’ve worked closely with neurodiverse learners, trauma survivors, and adult students who come to music for healing and reconnection. Each lesson becomes a safe space to explore your inner voice through sound. Whether you’re returning to the violin after years or just beginning your journey, I meet you where you are. No pressure, no rush—just the joy of making music in your own way. I believe the violin holds power far beyond performance. It’s a beautiful tool for emotional connection, resilience, and well-being.

About the lesson

My teaching approach for violin combines musical skill-building with essential care and maintenance knowledge. I believe that learning the instrument also means learning to respect and understand it. Alongside playing techniques, we cover how to properly hold, clean, and store your violin. You’ll also learn how to change strings, tune your instrument, and handle basic troubleshooting.

Each lesson is structured to meet your goals, whether you're a content creator aiming for polished sound or a passionate shower singer looking to improve expression. I provide clear guidance on posture, bow control, tone production, and reading music. We go step-by-step so you feel confident in both your playing and your instrument upkeep.

I value consistency, patience, and small wins. Together, we’ll develop your ear, build your technique, and explore pieces that match your taste and level. I also offer personalized advice on accessories, shoulder rests, and choosing the right strings. Even simple routines—like daily wiping or humidity care are taught in a way that’s easy to remember.
