About Maris
Hello! I’m a violin tutor with over 8 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. My classical training provides a strong foundation, and I help students explore modern expression through the violin. I focus on essential techniques like bowing, vibrato, phrasing, and interpretation to develop a versatile, expressive sound. I work across Classical, Contemporary, and Cinematic styles, tailoring lessons to each student’s goals and musical interests. My experience includes preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity exams, as well as offering orchestral coaching to build ensemble skills and stage confidence. Lessons are designed to strengthen technical mastery while encouraging creativity and personal expression. I emphasize a balance of disciplined practice and imaginative exploration, helping students discover their unique voice. Each session integrates repertoire, technique exercises, and performance guidance to foster musical growth. My approach encourages curiosity, musical understanding, and a love for the violin. I invite students to join me on a journey where tradition meets creativity, and every note becomes a personal story to tell through the violin.

I integrate rhythm exercises, sight-reading, and improvisation to keep learning dynamic and engaging. For students passionate about musical theater or worship music, I provide guidance on stylistic interpretation, phrasing, and stage presence, helping them shine in performances. I encourage consistent practice, reflection through performance journals, and the use of recordings to track progress. My goal is to make lessons inspiring, supportive, and growth-focused.
