About Lumi

I have over 8 years of experience teaching violin, backed by a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Violin Performance. My teaching approach is holistic and deeply therapeutic, focusing on self-expression, emotional release, and musical storytelling. I believe the violin can be a powerful tool for mindfulness and stress reduction, helping students connect with themselves on a deeper level. In lessons, I incorporate improvisation, journaling, and soundscape creation to support personal growth and healing. This method allows students to explore their emotions and tell their stories through music. I have had the privilege of working with neurodiverse learners, trauma survivors, and adult students seeking comfort and strength through violin. Each session is tailored to create a safe and nurturing space for discovery and emotional connection. I guide students gently, encouraging them to find their own inner voice through the instrument. The violin becomes more than just an instrument—it transforms into a source of well-being and self-understanding. My goal is to help every student experience the joy and healing power that music can bring. Together, we explore the profound ways the violin can nurture both mind and heart.

About the lesson

My teaching approach goes beyond playing the violin; I emphasize the importance of caring for and maintaining your instrument. Proper handling, regular cleaning, string changing, and basic troubleshooting are essential skills every violinist should master. I guide students through these practical aspects to ensure their violin stays in top condition and sounds its best.

I work especially well with The Content Creator and The Shower Singer—students who want to keep their instrument ready for any performance or recording. We cover everything from how to safely hold the violin when not playing, to cleaning methods that protect its finish, to changing strings confidently without damage.

Lessons include step-by-step demonstrations and hands-on practice with maintenance tasks. I encourage questions and provide tips to prevent common problems. This practical knowledge builds independence and responsibility in every student.

By learning proper care, you’ll extend your violin’s life and enjoy better sound quality. I support you throughout this process, ensuring you feel confident in maintaining your instrument. Together, we develop both your playing skills and your ability to look after your violin. This balanced approach helps you become a thoughtful and skilled musician.
