I am a native speaker of Persian. I have been giving language classes for 6 years. I can speak Spanish and English, I also have a decent level in Italian. The next language for me is French. I use the "natural method" to learn and teach languages. If you want to speak and understand a language, you shouldn't just focus on grammar and boring exercises. In my class we just try to communicate and understand the message. With patience and attention, after a while you can start speaking and understanding the language automatically.
