About Nina
Hi, I'm Nina! I'm a Filipino and a native Tagalog speaker. I have studied in a private school in The Philippines, wherein Tagalog and English were both the mediums of instruction. This was throughout my early education up to my 4 years in college studying Interior Design. I wanted to pursue a career in design after I graduated, but life had other plans for me, which led me to the UK, where I currently live. I started teaching Tagalog to kids within the Filipino community when the country was on lockdown during the pandemic. As a Filipino living here, I have witnessed many Filipino kids who don't know how to speak Tagalog. I am also aware of Filipinos born in different parts of the world who are eager to reconnect with their roots by learning the language. Additionally, with the Philippines attracting tourists more than ever, many of them are interested in learning Tagalog as well. These are the people I want to help. I strongly believe that learning a language involves consistent conversations with someone patient like me. I can guide students through the basics, starting with simple words, then phrases, and gradually build their confidence to use the language in whatever environment they are in.

I specialise in teaching beginners and create lesson plans to make learning experience both effective and enjoyable. For teaching both children and adults online, the free lesson is to get to know the students and discuss their purpose of wanting to learn Tagalog. Whether it’s for travel, connecting with family, or simply exploring a new language. I will then work on a lesson plan tailored to their needs and this is what will be used for the next sessions. The lesson will start with the basics of Tagalog, focusing on practical vocabulary, sentence structures, and conversational skills to help the student communicate confidently. My goal is to help students speak Tagalog in real-life situations. Through guided conversations, practice exercises, and cultural tips, they will gain the confidence to use Tagalog naturally and fluently.
