  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

For as long as I can remember, mathematics has always fascinated me. From a young age, solving problems and finding simple solutions to already-solved mathematical puzzles has been my passion. My interest in tutoring began to take shape in university, where I started helping my classmates better understand mathematical concepts. That's how I discovered my love for sharing knowledge and helping others succeed in this subject.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

As a private math tutor, I cover a wide range of topics, from foundational basics like arithmetic, algebra, and calculus to advanced concepts such as multivariate calculus, topology, probability, statistics, financial mathematics, and geometry. I have a genuine passion for teaching analysis and probability, as these subjects allow students to visualize problems and make mathematics more tangible. However, I acknowledge that probability can be challenging to explain, so I strive to make it as understandable and engaging as possible.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Throughout my academic journey, I've been fortunate to learn from math experts who transformed the subject into something thrilling and captivating. During my bachelor's and master's studies, I encountered eminent professors in analysis, geometry, and probability. Their teaching methods blended patience in explaining concepts with creative problem-solving approaches. Their influence deeply inspired me to become an effective and dedicated educator. In terms of mathematical literature, two works left an indelible mark on my perspective: James Munkres' topology textbook and the volumes "Mouvement Brownien et Martingales continues" by Jean-François Le Gall and "Brownian Motion" by Yuval Peres and Peter Mörters, which explore probability and stochastic calculus. These books shaped my understanding of the connections between analysis, probability, and fractal geometry, while fueling my curiosity in profoundly enriching ways.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

To be an effective math expert and teacher, patience and adaptability are essential. Every student has a unique learning style, so tailoring my approach to their specific needs is crucial. Additionally, clarity in explanations and the ability to simplify complex ideas are indispensable skills.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

My journey as a mathematician includes a surprising anecdote that completely redirected my academic aspirations. After earning my DEUG (two-year undergraduate diploma), I was determined to pursue physics. However, life's most pivotal moments often emerge unexpectedly. Literally at the last minute-one day before the deadline-I changed my mind. Just as I thought my decision was final, a thought struck me: What if I followed my passion for mathematics instead? It felt like an epiphany, though the timing was far from ideal. My friends and family were shocked by this sudden U-turn, and even I hadn't anticipated it.

It was a bold, spontaneous choice. I still remember my friends' stunned expressions when I told them. Yet, a deep conviction told me I couldn't ignore this calling. Mathematics had always intrigued me, and this felt like the right moment to trust my intuition. This experience taught me that life's biggest decisions sometimes arise in the present moment-and following your passion can lead to incredible surprises. Since that last-minute choice, I've embarked on a fulfilling mathematical journey, grateful every day for trusting my instinct.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Absolutely-I can assure you I've faced academic struggles too. In high school, math was my weakest subject. I often struggled to grasp concepts and solve problems, leading to frustration and a belief that I'd never excel in it. However, everything changed when I entered university. New teaching methods, fresh perspectives, and professors who believed in my potential transformed my outlook.

Over time, I realized my high school struggles weren't due to a lack of aptitude but rather an unsupportive learning environment. I discovered a latent passion for math that only needed nurturing. This led to remarkable progress: I began excelling in courses, enjoying complex problem-solving, and eventually pursuing a PhD-something I'd never imagined possible in high school. This taught me that challenges don't define potential; with the right support and determination, weaknesses can become strengths.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Beyond teaching and research, my hobbies reflect my insatiable curiosity and love for exploration. Music holds a special place in my life-I see deep connections between its rhythms, patterns, and mathematical logic. I'm also an avid hiker. Mountain trekking provides balance, connecting me with nature while offering physical challenges. Climbing mountains mirrors solving math problems: both demand perseverance to reach the summit.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

What makes me a Superprof is my passionate commitment to mathematics, my empathy for students' challenges, and my innovative teaching approach. My own journey-from high school struggles to academic excellence taught me the value of inclusive, personalized learning. I believe every student has untapped potential, waiting to be unlocked with the right guidance.

My love for music inspires creative teaching methods to make math accessible and engaging. I foster a classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and building confidence. In short, I'm a Superprof because I genuinely want my students to succeed. I adapt to their needs, share not just knowledge but also experiences, and strive to make math not just understandable but exciting. To me, teaching is about inspiring and guiding students toward excellence while nurturing their self-belief.
