About James
I am a friendly energetic and open minded University student about to enter my final year at Durham university who has recently returned from Taipei. I would love to spread my love of the culture as well as knowledge of the language to as many people as possible as well as develop connections through a mutual interest in Chinese. Experienced in Taipei first hand the power of speaking Chinese in developing connections with local people, expanding horizons and facilitating exchanges that would not have been possible without being able to speak Chinese. I believe in the importance of more people being able to speak Chinese in developing friendships and understanding between Chinese speakers and the west.

I Believe strongly in creating a friendly and warm environment in which students are comfortable in making mistakes and learning from these mistakes. Able to teach all ages and the lessons would be directed at students who have not studied chinese before or who have studied very little but have an interest in the culture as well as the language. Would look to place a particular emphasis on pronunciation and understanding tones given this is an important but often neglected area of Chinese. A typical lesson would be 1 hour but I am flexible and happy to be led according to the students needs.
