As a tutor, I take a personalized approach to each student, tailoring my teaching method and techniques to their individual needs and goals. With a foundation in classical vocal training and years of professional performance experience, I incorporate a holistic approach that encompasses vocal technique, interpretation, and stage presence.

A typical lesson plan begins with vocal warm-ups and exercises to strengthen and expand the student's vocal range and control. We then delve into repertoire study, selecting pieces that align with the student's interests and skill level. Throughout the lesson, I emphasize the importance of proper breathing, posture, diction, and expression, helping students develop a well-rounded and expressive vocal technique.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my commitment to nurturing not only the technical aspects of singing but also the artistic and emotional expression. I draw upon my own experiences as a performer to provide insights into interpretation and stagecraft, helping students connect with their music on a deeper level.

My lessons are suitable for students of all levels, from beginners to advanced singers, and encompass a range of styles including classical and musical theater. Whether preparing for auditions, competitions, or performances, I provide a supportive and encouraging environment where students can grow and develop as vocalists. With my guidance, students can expect to see significant progress in their vocal technique, musicality, and confidence as performers.

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music, and what is your favorite instrument?

I was incredibly fortunate to be exposed to music and singing from a young age. My grandparents used to take me to the opera, and I remember falling in love with it then-I've never looked back since.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you can listen to on repeat without it driving you crazy?

Right now, I'm really into Lake Street Dive, Vulfpeck, and Hiatus Kaiyote, but I also love listening to opera and classical music. I've recently been captivated by Christian Van Horn's singing.
  • 3) Describe the most difficult or riveting course you could personally teach to a student of music.

The most riveting course I could teach would focus on Bel canto technique, with an emphasis on Italianate vowels and healthy breath support. The difficulty lies in the rigor and consistency of practice. I push my students to grow into the strongest performers they can be, empowered by a solid and reliable technique.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I believe it's a bit unfair to label any one instrument as the most difficult to master. While some may have a steeper learning curve, mastery of any instrument requires a consistent, rigorous approach to practice and performance. No matter the instrument, it takes immense dedication to achieve true mastery.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

My answer may not be flashy, but success is built through consistency, hard work, informed guidance, and compassion for yourself during the process.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favorite bar in the early hours of the morning, and explain why.

Leonard Bernstein - His perspective on music is astounding, whether it's performance, composition, education, or mentorship. I'd have countless questions for him, and I imagine he'd offer equally insightful answers.
Nina Simone - She was an incredible communicator and performer, with a voice that captivates and moves people. I'd love to learn how she balanced being so expressive while staying present in the moment.
Igor Stravinsky - I'd be fascinated to pick Stravinsky's brain. He expanded Western musical tastes and witnessed some of the most significant changes in 20th-century Europe. I'd want to hear his views on music today and where he sees the industry heading.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I received from a mentor was to "run your own race." It's easy to look at others and want to be on their journey, but it's crucial to remember that everyone's path is different, and your own journey will be remarkable in its own way.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

My deep love for the craft of singing, coupled with my experience, positions me as an ideal teacher for any student eager to grow and learn as much as possible.
