Learning how to play the piano is a fulfilling and rewarding experience. It can be an incredibly enriching hobby, one which allows you to explore the many musical possibilities that come with the instrument.
Whether you learn in person or with digital tools, there are a few basic things you should know before getting started
First, it’s important to get familiar with the basics of music theory and learn about key signatures, scales, chords and progressions. This will give you a strong foundation for learning complex pieces of music later on.
Next, learn proper techniques such as proper hand position and posture as well as exercises to build up your dexterity and strength. Once you have these basics down, it’s time to learn how to read sheet music.
If possible, take some lessons from an experienced piano teacher who can guide you through these fundamentals at your own pace and help keep your practice sessions productive.
