The main 2026 VCE written examinations run from Tuesday 27 October to Wednesday 18 November 2026, beginning with English and English as an Additional Language (EAL). Some Languages oral and performance examinations begin on Monday 5 October, with other written Languages assessments on 15–16 October, so your own examination period may begin sooner.

The timetable below follows the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). Use your individual examination timetable from your school as your final reference, and check the live VCAA timetable before attending.

How to Check Your Personal VCE Examination Timetable

The public timetable shows when each subject is scheduled, but your individual timetable confirms the exams you are entered for. VCAA makes student examination timetables available to schools through the Victorian Assessment Software System (VASS). Schools distribute them to students.

zoom_in

1. Ask your school or VCE coordinator for your individual student examination/assessment timetable.
2. Check each subject, paper, date, time and examination centre. If you have approved Special Examination Arrangements, check the details with your school as well.
3. Raise any missing or incorrect details with your school immediately. For oral and performance assessments, check the separate VCAA examination advice slip and identification requirements.

What Time Should You Arrive for a VCE Exam?

VCAA advises students to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each written examination.

Arrival time

If your exam starts at 9:00 am, arrive at the examination venue by 8:30 am at the latest.

Reading time

The times shown in the VCE timetable include reading time. Most written exams begin with 15 minutes of reading time, unless otherwise specified.

Late arrival

If you're running late, contact your school immediately. Late admission is subject to VCAA rules, and you may lose your reading time.

For complete requirements, consult the official VCE examination rules.

What Can You Take Into a VCE Exam?

Permitted materials depend on the subject and paper. Before exam day, check:

Basic stationery: Pens, pencils, highlighters, an eraser and a ruler are generally permitted. Any pencil case brought into the examination room must be transparent.
Mathematics equipment: General Mathematics Examinations 1 and 2 permit an annotated bound reference and approved calculator technology. Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics Examination 1 permit neither calculators nor bound references, while Examination 2 permits them under VCAA conditions.
Other subject-specific materials: Dictionaries, calculators and other items are permitted only for the examinations specified by VCAA. Check your own subject, rather than assuming the rules are the same for every paper.
Prohibited devices: Do not bring mobile phones, smart watches or other unauthorised electronic devices into the examination room.

Water is permitted in a clear, label-free plastic bottle with a secure lid, subject to VCAA’s conditions. For the full requirements, consult VCAA’s authorised materials and equipment, approved technology list and VCE examination rules.

Planning Your Revision Around the VCE Timetable

Once you've checked your personal VCE timetable, use it to organise your final weeks of revision.

  • Mark every exam on your calendar: Include all written papers, Languages oral assessments and performance examinations.
  • Prioritise closely scheduled exams: Work backwards from each date, allowing enough time for timed past papers and revision of difficult topics.
  • Check exam-day details: Confirm your examination centre, permitted equipment and travel arrangements in advance.
date_range
Plan ahead for exams that fall close together

General Mathematics Examination 1 takes place on Friday 30 October 2026, followed by Examination 2 on Monday 2 November. With only a weekend between the two papers, make sure you've prepared for both before sitting the first exam.

When Are the 2026 VCE Results Released?

The 2026 VCE results and ATAR will be available from 7:00 am on Thursday 10 December 2026.

Students can access their results through the official VCE Results and ATAR Service or its mobile app. You'll need to register in advance using your VCAA student number. VCAA recommends registering by 5:00 pm on Wednesday 9 December.

Your VCE results and ATAR are not the same: VCAA provides your examination grades and study scores, while VTAC calculates the ATAR for eligible students.
