About Matt

Hello! I am a PhD student in Architecture currently studying in the UK, with a rich and diverse educational background. I hold dual Master’s degrees in Architecture and Urban Design, and my research focuses on urbanism and street art—exploring the creative intersections of cities and culture. Beyond academics, I’m a passionate artist and enjoy expressing myself through drawing and painting. I also love cooking and experimenting with flavours from different cuisines. My open-minded and cheerful personality makes it easy for me to connect with people from all walks of life, and I truly enjoy making new friends. In my free time, you’ll often find me skateboarding, exploring urban spaces, or sharing stories with friends. I believe my multicultural experiences and creative interests bring a unique perspective to my teaching, and I look forward to helping you on your journey to mastering Mandarin!

About the lesson

I focus on creating a fun and relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring the language. My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, whether you're preparing for exams like the HSK or simply looking to improve your conversational Mandarin. Drawing from my own experiences studying abroad, I use interactive techniques, real-world examples, and cultural insights to make learning both effective and enjoyable. I hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Architecture from China, a Master's in Urban Design from the UK, and I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Architecture in the UK. I've helped international students studying in Chinese universities to improve their Mandarin skills and successfully pass the HSK exam. My personal experiences studying in Japan, Spain, and the UK have shaped my inclusive and open-minded approach to teaching. My lessons are suitable for students of all levels and ages, from beginners looking to build a foundation in Mandarin to advanced learners preparing for proficiency exams or seeking to enhance their conversational skills. Whether you're a student, a professional, or a language enthusiast, I can help you achieve your goals.
