About Pilo

I'm Pilo Adami —a music producer, mixer, and multi-instrumentalist with over 15 years of experience working across folk, electronic, hip hop, world music, and soul. I’ve toured internationally, recorded at Abbey Road, and collaborated with artists like Nubiyan Twist, Nick Mulvey, and Andrew Ashong.

I studied at Leeds College of Music, but most of what I know came from the studio, the stage, and countless hours of self-directed learning. My teaching is grounded in the principles of Ultralearning—a method of fast, focused skill-building that’s all about learning by doing. That means:
- Direct practice: we’ll work inside your DAW (Ableton or Logic), on your own music or real-world examples.
- Targeted feedback: I’ll help you pinpoint friction points and break through creative ruts.
- Reverse-engineering: we’ll study tracks you admire and break them down to understand structure, groove, and production choices.
- Skill isolation: whether it’s arrangement, swing, chord progressions, or finishing tracks, we zoom in on what matters most for your development.

Lessons are always hands-on, flexible, and built around your goals. Whether you're just getting started or stuck in the 8-bar loop phase, we’ll work together to build lasting creative momentum and real skills—not just more plugins or theory. If you’re ready to take your music further—with focus, intention, and some rhythm—I’d love to help.

I approach teaching like I approach making music: hands-on, curious, and rooted in real-world experience. My goal isn’t to fill your head with theory—it’s to get your hands dirty making tracks, finishing ideas, and unlocking groove.

Each lesson is shaped around your needs, but anchored in the Ultralearning principles I use myself:

Direct practice: We don’t just talk about arrangement or swing—we apply it to your session, in your DAW, with your own music.

Feedback loops: I give honest, constructive feedback you can act on immediately. You’ll improve by doing, tweaking, and repeating.

Reverse engineering: We break down references or loops, figure out what makes them work, and then rebuild with your flavor.

Skill targeting: If you’re stuck in the loop phase or overwhelmed by your plugins, we’ll focus on just one friction point per session, building fluency step by step.

Typical session flow:

Check-in on progress or roadblocks

Focused skill application (e.g., swing, arrangement, layering)

Working live inside Logic or Ableton

Wrap-up with actionable takeaways or next steps

What makes my sessions different? I’ve spent 15+ years on stages and in studios—from Abbey Road to Glastonbury—and I know the tension between creativity and craft. Whether we’re talking drum programming, humanizing MIDI, or just getting over perfectionism, I keep it grounded and musical.

Who is it for?

Beginners looking to understand structure, groove, and tools

Intermediate producers wanting to escape the 8-bar loop trap

Songwriters or musicians who want to produce their own ideas

Anyone curious about making music that feels alive

All styles welcome. You just need a DAW and a desire to learn.
