About Martha

I am an experienced teacher in French, Spanish and English and have a degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have taught both in a classroom with up to 40 students as well as one-on-one. I have received praise for my ability to make lessons fun and am interested in improving English conversational skills.

About the lesson

A typical lesson would be an informal conversation at the beginning to set the tone. We would then discuss an article or current event by asking and answering questions. Then moving on to some work on building vocabulary followed by grammar. We would end the lesson by assigning a reading for the next lesson. I consider myself skilled in eliciting as much conversation as the student can achieve as well as knowledge about current events and student interests (music, travel, education, etc.). My lessons appeal to a broad spectrum of students. I have taught students from age 5 to adults with a focus of building conversational skills. I also have experience with teaching languages like French and Spanish and teaching ESL in an online environment.
