About Aman
I have loved playing the guitar from a young age, and to this day, the guitar has been my biggest hobby. I play genres including classical, blues and jazz, rock, pop, and even a little bit of Bollywood music. I want to share the joy and excitement I experience when playing with new beginners. ● Royal Conservatory Music Development Program (2015 – 2017) The Royal Conservatory is one of the largest and most respected musical education institutions in the world. I completed Levels 1-4 for classical guitar, taking the examinations for Levels 2-4. I also completed Level 5. A video of me performing Spanish Romance is on my YouTube channel, which can be found through the video below. o Guitar Level 1 Repertoire: Poco Allegretto……Ferdinando Carulli Andante, op. 241, no.5……Ferdinando Carulli Study no. 12: Dance……Carlo Domeniconi o Guitar Level 2 Repertoire: Scarborough Fair……Michael Lucarelli Romanze Semplice o Examination Score Results: 89/100 o Guitar Level 3 Repertoire: Greensleeves……Norbert Kraft Minuet……Niccolò Paganini Les blues des grenouilles (The Frog Blues)……Claude Gagnon Study no.2: Lesson 7……Dionisio Aguado Study no. 16: Volatility……Jeffrey McFadden o Examination Score Results: 86/100 o Guitar Level 4 Repertoire: Suite No. 11 Sarabande……Robert de Visée Soldatenmarsch (Soldier’s march), op. 68, no. 2……Robert Schumann, arr. Norbert Kraft Lágrima (Tear), Prelude……Francisco Tárrega Study no. 3: Study……Dionisio Aguado Study no. 10: Study in Seven……Norbert Kraft o Examination Score Results: 82/100 o Guitar Level 5 Repertoire: La chasse (The Hunt), op. 51, no.9……Friedrich Burgmuller Spanish Romance……Traditional, arr. Robert Hamilton Study no.4: Lesson 35……Dionisio Aguado ● Vice President, Lynbrook Music Club (2017 – 2020) Additionally, I was vice president of the Lynbrook High School Music Club, a 20-member Lynbrook Students Organization where members collaborate through their common interest in music. o This club was focused only around classical music before I joined. I introduced more relevant genres like rock, pop, hip-hop, and trap, and increased its appeal to more students. o Using a software called Soundtrap, I taught students how to create electronic beats, and how to integrate that with bass, guitar, synths, vocals, and other instruments to create covers for their favorite artists. Examples of projects that I have worked on through Soundtrap: o Redbone by Childish Gambino o 100 Degrees by Rich Brian o Havana by Camila Cabello o Señorita by Shawn Mendes o I also lead jam sessions to help members create original compositions by grouping them based on their interests, instruments and skills levels. ● Stanford Jazz Workshop (2016) I also participated in the Stanford Jazz Workshop - a nonprofit organization dedicated to jazz education and the annual concert series known as the Stanford Jazz Festival. o Met and learned from renowned jazz musicians including Ila Cantor, Taylor Eigsti, Joshua White, and Tupac Mantilla o Performed an Autumn Leaves chart by Jacques Petroff with two other faculty members on the Stanford University campus A video of me performing Autumn Leaves can be found on my YouTube channel. ● Volunteer Leader, Musical Workshops for Autistic Students (2019-2020) I created this workshop on my own interest because I wanted to use my music as a way to improve school experience of autistic students at Blue Hills Elementary School. o Took initiative to reach out to the principal of the school to organize the first musical workshops for the school’s autistic students o Every Thursday, I played two to three songs on my guitar for three age groups of autistic students; Happy by Pharrell Williams, Girls Like You by Maroon 5, and Love Yourself by Justin Bieber are a few that got popular among kids o Class sizes averaged around 10 - 15 students; I even had the students contribute to the music by playing maracas and shakers ● Lynbrook High School Jazz Band (2016 – 2018) Lynbrook Jazz Band is a 20-member Lynbrook Students Organization where members collaborate through their common interest in Jazz music. o Played guitar for rhythm section of high school jazz band led by Oscar Pangilinan o Learned basic jazz concepts like comping, modes and scales, arpeggios and seventh chords, and jazz chord progressions o Perform at school dances and the annual Lynbrook Craft Fair

I want to primarily teach beginner guitar players who have little to no experience, in genres of pop and rock. For the first few meetings, my priority is to get the student playing their favorite songs as soon as possible, by teaching them a few basic chords. I don't believe the traditional scales, music theory, and sheet music are the most engaging way to introduce a beginner to an instrument; learning songs you listen to is more fun and exciting. The guitar is a unique instrument in that sense because beginners can immediately start playing along to their favorite rock and pop songs by the time they have learned fundamental chords.
Once the student has gotten used to playing a few chords, I will move on to more complex chords while simultaneously introducing more intricate songs. My classes are very flexible from there; if the student wants to continue learning chord progressions, I can continue doing that. If the student wants to learn scales and soloing on the guitar, I have lots of experience improvising and playing riffs. Just like with the chords, I believe the best way to learn solos is by replicated those of existing music, rather than just playing scales up and down. I have a set of songs with guitar solos that increase in complexity, which I will use to get the student started with soloing. And, of course, if the student has any requests for a solo they want to learn, I will either teach it if the student is ready or find something by the same artist that is simpler.
One note with my teaching approach is that I don't use sheet music at the beginning. Since the guitar is a very visual instrument with frets and strings, I believe it's easier to learn by looking at where notes are on the fretboard, rather than having to learn how to read sheet music. Nonetheless, if the student specifically requests to learn sheet music, I have experience reading classical music.

When a young mind plays music for all the right reasons you know you have found a music connoisseur!
Aman has been learning how to play the guitar since the age of 8. While playing an instrument well is a necessary skill, his ability to listen to good music and absorb it in is his strength. He is a very patient personality which is very calming. I strongly recommend this young man to anyone who would love to learn how to play the guitar and learn music for all the right reasons! As Aman's brother I can say that he is a very patient and passionate teacher. He has been playing guitar for a very long time and has experience in a variety of genres. I can say confidently that he is not in it for the money but rather to spread his knowledge in the world of guitaring. I would highly recommend his service to any beginner out there who wants a great guitar teacher.
