About Anya

I’m a dedicated violin tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus on Violin Performance. My journey as a musician has taken me through solo recitals, chamber ensembles, and full orchestral stages. I bring that rich performance background into every lesson, helping students not only play beautifully but also perform with confidence. I specialize in building strong stage presence, preparing students for auditions, and guiding them through the interpretation of advanced repertoire. Whether it’s perfecting a concerto or refining technique for a competition, I tailor each session to the student’s personal goals. I’ve worked closely with high school performers aiming for conservatory placement, conservatory students preparing for juries, and young violinists entering national competitions. With a deep understanding of the physical and emotional demands of playing, I help students develop both precision and artistry. I place great importance on musical storytelling, phrasing, and expression, as well as technical mastery. We focus not only on what to play, but how to play it with meaning and confidence. About the lesson

When a student first picks up the violin, they often carry more tension than tone. I remember a young learner who struggled with holding the bow—it slipped, it shook, it sang out of tune. Together, we turned frustration into focus. I gently guided their hand into a relaxed and natural bow hold, using simple visual cues and playful imagery to make it stick. Over time, the trembling stopped, and confidence took root.

Another student came to me with beautiful dreams but weak intonation. Scales became our secret weapon. We turned routine drills into tiny milestones, tuning every note like a heartbeat. As the ear sharpened, so did their courage. I introduced expressive dynamics slowly, like painting emotions into every phrase. Their music began to speak.

Some learners arrive with energy but no structure. For them, I build a rhythm of discipline—clear goals, creative challenges, and consistent encouragement. Others carry emotion but struggle to let it out. I help them connect sound with story, unlocking their expressive voice.

Each student is different. But with patience, structure, and care, I guide them from scratchy beginnings to stirring melodies. I don’t just teach violin—I help students fall in love with it.
