About Kayla

As a committed and compassionate vocal coach with 7+ years of professional experience, I specialize in helping singers of all ages and abilities develop a voice they can trust and express with confidence. My teaching blends vocal science with musical artistry—I guide students through the mechanics of singing, from breath work and posture to resonance and diction, while also helping them connect emotionally to the music they sing. I believe every voice has something important to say, and my job is to help students say it with clarity, authenticity, and impact. Whether you’re a middle schooler auditioning for your first solo, a college student exploring vocal performance as a major, or an adult finally taking that leap into singing lessons, I’m here to support your goals with encouragement, technique, and a personalized plan. My studio is equipped for hybrid learning, and I often use digital tools like virtual accompaniment, pitch-training apps, and high-quality recordings to enhance lessons and provide feedback outside of our sessions. We’ll explore vocal styles that suit you, whether that’s classical, rock, musical theater, soul, or singer-songwriter. I also offer assistance with songwriting, harmonizing, stage presence, and setlist building for those interested in live performance. My lessons often include guided warm-ups, song study, interpretation work, and mock performance or audition practice. I want students to leave each lesson feeling stronger, more knowledgeable, and inspired to sing more. Many of my students have earned roles in school musicals, soloed in choirs, or started writing and recording their own material. Most importantly, they’ve grown more comfortable in their voices and themselves. Singing is personal and powerful, and I’m here to help you tap into that power.

Singing is the integration of breath, body, and emotional expression shaped within a cultural framework. In my teaching, I focus on fostering a balanced and comprehensive vocal technique combined with artistic sensitivity and cultural literacy.

Technical training includes breath control, posture, resonance focus, and smooth registration, approached through mindful, anatomy-informed exercises designed to encourage ease and longevity. I encourage students to engage deeply with the emotional and narrative aspects of their repertoire, using tools such as storytelling, character study, and phrasing experimentation to bring authenticity to their performances.

Cultural literacy is embedded in our work together; we examine the origins and meanings of pieces, promoting respectful interpretation and an understanding of the music’s social context. I support students’ development through clearly defined goals, regular evaluation, and adaptable practice strategies that prioritize sustainable progress and vocal health. My teaching environment emphasizes encouragement, curiosity, and resilience, guiding singers to develop their voice with confidence, expressivity, and integrity.
