About Joan
Joan Lew Ying Hui started her piano playing at the age of 9 and has been serving for church service and choirs as a pianist since young. She won Gold prize in the preliminary round, and subsequently the 3rd prize in the final round of the Malaysian Piano Competition organized by the Euroasia Association of Performing Arts. Currently, she is studying at Universiti Malaya to pursue her Bachelor Degree of Music, majoring in Classical piano under the tutelage of Dr. Poon Chiew Hwa. She also performed in the music showcase performance organized by Universiti Malaya as piano solo and piano duet in 2022 and 2023.
She had the privilege of attending a piano masterclass with esteemed musician, Dr. Poom Prommachat, Ng Chong Lim, Sylvia Loh, and Lena Chong. Besides, she started to join Yinqi Choir since 2022 as a soprano member. She performed together with the choir in the concert: Love and Strength United- Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy and also the “10 Christian Conductors Concert”.
In her opinion, teaching piano is more than just passing on technical knowledge; it is about nurturing creativity, instilling discipline, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for music. I want to be the mentor who guides you on this musical journey, supporting and encouraging you as you develop your own unique voice on the piano.

I will teach students from beginner to intermediate level. The course duration is approximately 45 minutes. Practical and theory are included in 1-hour lessons. Students are encouraged to attend at least 1 class per week.
