About Matthew
I enjoy helping students to understand a subject. I think maths and physics are often the most dreaded subjects, but part of this is just because of a distorted perspective many people have of them. I like helping people to see the subject in new ways, think creatively, and understand the core ideas behind physics and maths so that things start to seem very simple.

I aim to get you to understand the ideas behind what is going on so that you won't need to rely on memorisation. Because of my experience actually doing physics research for a living, I can help you by showing you easier ways to view the subject, e.g. understanding what a formula actually means, and how to think about problem solving. I can work with you on assignments, tests, etc. or can teach you concepts as you like - whatever suits you.
I have been a teaching assistant at ANU for undergraduates for 4 years, 2 years at University of Auckland, have been a private tutor on the side for 4 years as well. Recently received my PhD after years of research in physics, which gives me the experience to know how to help you see the subject in the best way.
I am comfortable and experienced teaching any level from roughly ages 15 and up in both maths and physics.
Normally lessons are about an hour.
