About Eleanor
Guitar lessons, in my view, should be more than skill acquisition—they should feel like unlocking a new part of yourself. My teaching philosophy centers around guided exploration. I provide students with the technical grounding they need—hand positioning, rhythmic feel, tone shaping, and fretboard fluency—but we always root those skills in meaningful musical contexts. Rather than practicing scales in isolation, we use them to build solos or compose riffs. Rather than memorizing theory, we look at why a particular chord progression moves us emotionally. I start every student journey by identifying what excites them: maybe it's crafting ambient soundscapes, learning expressive fingerstyle, or figuring out how to write songs that resonate. I build each curriculum around that spark. I also believe deeply in the value of musical storytelling. I challenge students to think beyond the “right notes” and ask: What are you trying to say with this passage? One of my students wanted to learn lead guitar but struggled with confidence—so we created a daily exercise that combined slow phrasing with backing tracks to focus on emotional delivery instead of speed. Within months, they were composing confident, expressive solos and had even joined a band. I treat progress as multifaceted: we measure not just what’s being played, but how it feels, how connected it is to the student’s goals, and how it builds their sense of artistic voice. Guitar becomes not just an instrument—but an outlet for creativity and growth.

I see teaching guitar as a partnership where your technical skills and artistic expression develop in harmony. We focus on fundamentals—posture, hand positioning, strumming, and chord changes—always related to music that moves you, from folk and blues to rock and pop.
I emphasize practical music theory so you understand how chords work together, how rhythm drives groove, and how these elements form songs. Communication is key; I explain ideas simply and check in often to adapt lessons to your learning style. I tailor lessons with visual aids, backing tracks, and rhythm tools like loopers to keep learning engaging. Guitar should be a joyful means of self-expression, not a source of frustration.
To inspire, I share stories from both professional musicians and everyday learners who have achieved success. Along with technique, I teach tone control, stage presence, effective practice habits, music reading, and improvisation. Whether you play casually or professionally, I’m dedicated to helping you grow confidently and creatively.
