About Giulia

Hello and welcome! I'm Giulia Baronovscki Leshem, I’ve been teaching piano both online and in person for over 11 years. I love connecting to my students in a way that motivates and inspires them to reach their goals and even surprise themselves. I used to live on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea, working as a pianist while visiting Greece, Malta, Spain, Morocco, France, Italy and Portugal. I’m a polyglot teacher, besides English I speak a few other languages like Italian, Hebrew and Portuguese. I hold a bachelor's degree from University of Washington (Seattle-WA). I’ve been performing in many cultural centers around the world and attended masterclasses with Zeynep Ucbasaran (Turkey), Tord Gustavsen (Norway), Ranko Markovic (Austria), Christian Leotta (Italy), Solungga Liu (USA), etc.
I’m thrilled to share my passion for music and help you achieve your musical goals.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I started playing the piano when I was 7 years old, and an inexplicable passion since then kept me studying and developing through the years in different countries. Piano and Cello are my favorite instruments.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I'm very open minded when it comes to music, from Classical, Pop and even Electronic music. I'd say my favorite composers are Suzanne Ciani, Debussy, Beethoven, Enya, Rachmaninov, etc.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I think some students who love piano music and start having classes are going to realize that studying is the main key to make progress. When I sense that they are struggling with a piece, I usually switch to an easier version to make them feel that it's possible.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I think piano is the most difficult instrument to master because it is the most complex one, we play lots of melodies and harmonies at the same time; such a rich instrument!
  • What are your keys to success?

The key to success is to find your passion, getting to know yourself enough so you can tell what your favorite composers/styles are while you're constantly expanding and developing into them.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Suzanne Ciani, Brad Mehldau and Martha Argerich are the ones that I'd love to talk to about musical concepts; very inspiring artists with very unique music styles.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

As soon as I finished my degree in music I received a job opportunity to be a pianist on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea, a realization of a huge dream of mine! I got to learn so much from this experience all the while getting to visit Greece, Malta, France, Spain, Morocco, Portugal and Italy.

I've studied with professors and private teachers who were always inspiring me to listen and to play different songs, styles, and composers.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

My passion for music as well as my ability to adapt to my students' universes is what gives my job that little magical touch.
