About Grace

I am a violin tutor with over 9 years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Violin. My background spans solo performance, chamber music, and orchestral playing, giving me a wide perspective to share with students. Having performed in a variety of settings, I bring both professional insight and practical advice into every lesson. A major focus of my teaching is building stage presence, since confidence on stage is as important as technical ability. I guide students through audition preparation, helping them develop the tools to perform under pressure with poise. For advanced players, I emphasize the interpretation of challenging repertoire, exploring both technical precision and expressive depth. I have worked with high school performers preparing for youth orchestra auditions and recitals. Conservatory students benefit from focused lessons on phrasing, tone, and artistic interpretation. Competition entrants receive intensive coaching to refine details and present themselves with confidence and artistry. My teaching style balances technical discipline with musical creativity. I aim to create lessons that inspire, challenge, and encourage students to push their limits. Each learner is supported in finding their personal voice while meeting the demands of advanced performance. Violin study is more than practice—it is a journey of expression, discipline, and growth. With dedication and guidance, I help students reach the next level of musical excellence.

My teaching approach is built on curiosity, experimentation, and self-guided discovery. Instead of simply copying, learners are encouraged to explore sound, ask questions, and find their own musical voice. Creative methods such as sound exploration, musical games, and improvisation exercises make lessons engaging and personal.

I use ear–eye coordination techniques to strengthen both listening and reading skills, ensuring students can connect what they hear with what they see on the page. Open string resonance is introduced early, helping learners feel the natural vibration of the instrument and build sensitivity to tone. Fingerboard mapping is also a key part of lessons, giving students a clear sense of space and confidence in shifting.

Listening skills are nurtured through call-and-response activities, recording playbacks, and guided reflection on sound quality. Some learners thrive when discovering things independently, while others seek a strong emotional connection to music or focus on developing refined technique. Creative expression is supported equally alongside technical mastery, allowing every student to shape their journey in a way that feels authentic.

The classroom atmosphere remains open and encouraging, where mistakes are treated as stepping stones to discovery. Curiosity drives progress, and experimentation leads to lasting learning. With consistent guidance and space for self-expression, students not only grow as violinists but also as creative thinkers. The goal is for each learner to leave lessons with both strong skills and a deeper love for music.
