I enjoy making learning fun! I try to gamify some aspect of my lessons. What grade schooler doesn’t like to play games! I follow the 5 E Method in my instruction. ENGAGE: Lessons will start with me first focusing on you as a learner. What are your interests, attitudes on the subject, how do you learn best, and gain your prior knowledge on the topic we cover. EXPLORE: Warm up skills, build on prior skills, make connections, explore curiosities and experiment. EXPLAIN: Then we will dig into the lesson. I use the technique: I do, we do, then you do to get the skills down and build confidence. ELABORATE: Next we will play some kind of game or challenge for continuous practice and to correct misconceptions. EVALUATE: Finally, an assessment will be given so we can collect data on the learned skills. The data will be used by me to craft my next lessons and spiral new knowledge.
