About Aisling
My academic journey has not been straight forward. I first completed a degree in Biochemistry and barely passed most of my exams. I had been led to believe during elementary and high school education that I was inherently smart, so when things got hard in Uni, I assumed I wasn’t as smart as I was once told. I believed you were either born smart or not, and there was no point in working hard as it wouldn’t change anything. However, this mindset changed when I went back to Uni to study psychology and learned about growth and fixed mindsets. This completely revolutionized how I viewed my abilities and how I tackled my degree. I went from being at the bottom of my biochemistry class to the top student of my psychology program. I have since received awards and honours for my academic achievements and I now design and lead projects in applied psychology for a healthcare institution.
