About Shanetta
I am a former elementary school teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience. I have taught in public, private, and public charter schools in Washington, DC, and Maryland. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology as well as a Master's in Education.
Outside of the classroom, I ran two successful tutoring companies. One of which was an authorized supplemental educational services provider for the state of Virginia. I developed program curriculum and trained tutors for Title 1 schools in several school districts.
I currently run a small tutoring company in the Washington, DC metro area and work with students in-home and online who struggle to read. I love working side-by-side with students to strengthen their phonics, phonemic awareness skills, fluency, and comprehension. I also teach courses to homeschool students in reading, history, and math.

I love interacting with students during lessons in fun and interesting ways. We all learn differently, so I make an effort to ensure that my lessons are geared towards each student's learning style.
My lessons are especially geared towards upper elementary students. I loved teaching these grades and feel that these grades are imperative in ensuring that students master fluency and comprehension skills of grade-level text.
