English has always been one of my favourite subjects and I enjoy teaching it to others! Whether it be essay writing or comprehension of a text, I aim to create lessons which are tailored to the individual needs of my students and whatever they wish to achieve in terms of their studies. I also work around my uni timetable to tutor students whenever it is most convenient for them.
I base my support on the development of a collaborative approach to the overall practice of developed support, a collaborative approach that builds on knowledge owned by the student being used to help build the required understandings and practices. Students develop ownership by the use of this collaborative approach.
Initially I will be starting with the basic elements of the subject i.e reading or writing and developing a strategy based on prior knowledge. I have access to a formal curriculum so I will be able to derrive tasks from the same curriculum based on what your child is specifically learning in class.
I Take each students needs into account before deciding a dedicated learning path for them, I believe that it each student has their own abilities and disadvantages and that when using our skills academically we must play on both of those things.
My methodology involves individualising lessons for each student. I believe no student is the same and I value the different strengths of each student I teach. I will take the time to get to know the student and plan an individualised lesson. I also believe it is important to keep their parents involved in the goal-setting process.
I provide a safe and supportive learning environment for my students through building positive relationships as well as teaching engaging and enjoyable lessons. Along with my seven years of classroom teacher experience I have also completed over 100 hours of professional development and therefore can draw on a number of different strategies depending on the students learning style learning needs.
I am new to tutoring, although I have been helping my fellow classmates over the past three years and this is something I have always wanted to do. We can work together to find an approach that suits your personality and learning style.
My teaching method is centred around the student - I base all my lessons on their weaknesses and strengths and write all the lesson materials myself based on their abilities and their school or university work, depending on what they need.
I cater my sessions based on your child's needs. I follow the NSW syllbus and assess where your child is at and where they need to go in their learning journey to meet or exceed learning outcomes.
Within my pedagogy I implement...
My lessons are student-focused, such that the material and delivery are designed in relation to my students' individual needs. I seek to use a variety of materials and media to enhance and enrich the learning experience. Most importantly, I seek to develop close relationships with my students so that learning is relaxed, enjoyable and rewarding.
I am a relaxed teacher with a style based on engagement and enthusiasm. I look to exhibit my personality as I teach and be someone the children want to learn from, which means I like to show humour, kindness, a personal touch and have fun as we learn.
I teach using a hands on, inquiry method to get students thinking about the 'why' behind their studies. I also use regular movement breaks as studies have shown this technique to be effective, particularly when working with younger children. I help students to gain the confidence they need to achieve success in their examinations and in regular classroom settings.
I rely on flexible teaching methodology. We do not do a lot of research because the lessons in tutoring are different. The lessen structure is very similar,eg.in persuasive writing you focus on planning/scaffolding/draft. Students have to get used to publishing her work as well.
My teaching method is student-centred whereby I motivate students by helping them realise their strengths in a topic, and offer assistance in areas they require improvement. I base my classes on student progress, needs, and any gaps in knowledge. I approach topics by starting with the basis of topics, and building upon this.
I am an experienced teacher and Educational Doctoral student with the time to spend one to one to ensure your child achieves to their potential at school. If it is a lack of basics holding them back, I can fill those gaps! If they are not being extended, I can help them grow and develop new skills and attitudes. I can help edit and refine any item of written work for most purposes.
When teaching, I focus on three key things in every lesson: establishing a growth mindset, effectively differentiating for each student, and ensuring my students feel valued. A growth mindset is when a student moves from saying "I can't" to saying "I can't yet". I work with every student to ensure they feel capable of improving, even if it's their least favourite subject.
I like to get back to the basics and build from there. I am dedicated, easy-going, friendly and love to see my students succeeding and gaining greater confidence.
My teaching method is one on one tutoring/ video chat (skype or other) or via email. I can answer any specific questions on writing essays, English literature periods/writers and/or help to analyse texts. I can help edit drafts for English assignments or give information regarding any inquiry about certain poets and time periods throughout English history.
I can guarantee that my lessons will cater to your ability in addition to being engaging. I value reflective practice, am determined to provide the most suitable methodology to your needs and approach every lesson with clear, structured activities.
My teaching philosophy is centred on understanding. My belief is that if a student has the proper groundwork in place, they can achieve anything! Hence, my focus tends not to be on just completing a specific assignment or essay but on a deeper comprehension of texts and questions.
My teaching method is gentle but firm, I always encourage and guide my students so they can develop their logic and critical thinking skills to solve their own problems. Having patience is imperative, and I always make sure students are comfortable and excited to learn.
My teaching method is holistic and I like to find out how each individual student works. I provide a wide range of strategies and techniques to suit the needs of each student.
My teaching methodology has emerged from up-to-date academic foundations and extensive experience . Lessons sit firmly on a foundation of connection with students. Topics are individualized and unique needs and interests are integrated. I teach important underlying skills through material that is authentic and meaningful for the student.
It would be effective to teach English based on their needs. With communicative approach, I facilitate their learning by putting them in the real situation. For example, brainstorming on things around the topic: transportation, street direction, length of time, etc.
I am flexible and can adapt my lessons to my students. I believe that knowledge is power. I like to break work down and do it in steps - I believe this is the best way to learn and remember.
I believe that students learn best when they are enjoying the subject. Therefore, I strive to implement a student-based approach to my teaching by tailoring my method of information delivery or teaching strategy to better suit the student's needs and interests. Hence, I am willing to utilize a variety of mediums and creative activities to connect with the student in terms that they can understand.
Students learn best when the lessons are suited to their learning style. I work on the visual, auditory, kinesthetic system - that is do you learn best by watching, listening or doing. By understanding the student's style of learning, the ability for the student to increase their skills and knowledge is possible.
Hello! My name is Christine. Originally from Tasmania, I started living and teaching in Brisbane about four years ago. Growing up, English and Chinese have been my favourite subjects and hope to help students make the most of them (or either) as well.
I have a thorough understanding of the current Victorian curriculum and I base my teaching by knowing the students knows and then taking the next step forward. I believe the thinking needs to come from the students and my job is to help them get there through guidance.
