About Tara
I am from Hong Kong, England, and Switzerland and I just turned 20. I am currently completing an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Durham University. I began tutoring when I was 16 years old to fulfill my IB diploma, but the chemistry I had with my students and the passion I had to help them improve prompted me to pursue my career as a tutor more seriously. During my gap year, I spent 6 months in Hong Kong tutoring children from ages 3-16. Despite moving to the UK, I continued to tutor these students remotely. As a full-time university student and DU Tennis athlete, I can get quite busy depending on the season, but I always try my best to be mindful and flexible to my students’ schedule.

My tutoring services are tailored to individual student’s needs. Prior to a lesson, the specific area a student would like to improve on will be discussed in order to prepare worksheets and exercises (e.g. spelling, vocabulary, grammar, literature) in advance. The typical length of a lesson is an hour. I have had 4 years of experience tutoring students in not only English, but also Maths, Psychology, Mandarin, Biology, PE, and History. I initially offered tutoring services to fulfill the CAS credits of my IB diploma, but decided to continue as I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. I try to make my lessons as engaging as possible while still maintaining an educational foundation. Undergoing IGCSE and IB English have given me the opportunity to pass my knowledge and expertise to current students. Additionally, as a BSC Psychology student, I enjoy working with children and thus have experience tutoring students as young as the age of 3.
