About Sophie
I am an A-level student studying English, History, French and Spanish. I have helped my younger siblings through entrance exam preparation and enjoy helping my peers at school. I am an Academic Scholar and achieve consistently high grades (I got straight 9s in my GCSEs) so I feel that I would be able to coach students to a very good standard.

When teaching, I like to do a starter so that I can gauge what the student finds more difficult so that I can focus on that area. I then explain my method and how I would approach that topic, going through each step so that the student understands it. If that method doesn’t work then I will try teaching with a different technique. Then I give the student a task to consolidate the work and finish with a discussion to check their understanding - this could include the student talking me through a problem which shows that they have understood the topic. I would then give some homework to do that the student can do further practice which I will either mark before the next lesson or mark with the student in the next lesson and I will always go through mistakes with them so that they understand.
