I recommend these lessons for beginners and intermediate modellers, starting all the way from the UI, controls and hotkeys to unwrapping and what I specialise in - hard surface topology. Blender is also free, which is great for people looking to get into 3D. If you wish we can start texturing as I have wide knowledge within this area too. I have small sculpting knowledge but, do not offer tutoring in character modelling.

Subject Matter I will be covering:
- Basic Fundamentals of 3D
- Learning of Hotkey Functions for Efficient Workflow
- Learning Blender & Transferable Skills to Other Software
- Topology & Mesh optimization
- General Asset & Prop creation
- Game Asset Creation - High Poly to Low Poly Workflow
- UV Unwrapping

  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My first ever experience with a computer was at a very young age, no older than 5. My father introduced me to his desktop, which was relatively powerful for it's time and had a decent monitor to match. I didn't achieve much but my dad showed me how to search using the browser Firefox. He had a ROM of an old game called Toy Story 2 which I played endlessly, but never managed to complete. Maybe I will someday when I get the chance. I learned to type myself so I can type fast, but I can't touch type as I wasn't traditionally taught how.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

The home computer has allowed for an entirely new age of this world. Almost everyone with a device can now connect to the internet - the world's largest library of free information. This has allowed me to teach myself any skill. Without this, I would not be able to share my skillsets on Superprof. The next obvious turning point for today's generation will be Artificial Intelligence. Manual and menial task could now be automated. Different complex algorithms can be written to improve our daily lives and make things simpler. As an artist, this will be a huge change to the way I work and what I'll be capable of doing, but it's anyone's guess as to how the future will turn out.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

I am an Artist. I specialise in 3D hard surface modelling, especially for game ready assets. I have knowledge in numerous different ways that make me stand out as an artist. I understand colour theory's important to making textures from scratch in Photoshop. With certain skills, you can create amazing art. It's important to have a broadened skillset so you can communicate with others on projects, to have a similar understanding of the projects direction and therefore, have a purposeful vision that fits with everyone's mind. This is important so that companies from a top down perspective have an overall vision that makes sense for everyone. For example as a modeller I must know the style of the assets must match said vision. This includes everything from textures, to environments and characters from a video game creation standpoint. It's important that they all merge together to make one great masterpiece.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

Typical high profile role models have inspired me, but I generally look for great attributes in normal, everyday people. People who have problems in their lives and past issues but still choose to stand tall and push ahead. Resilience is a quality that is sought after as it's hard to achieve. I look up to people such as single mothers who struggle everyday, but give their child the best chance of success for being an adult. I'm inspired by those with a positive can-do attitude and don't give up despite the going getting tough.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I was in class at school about age 7 and the teacher had decided to give out sweets to those that answered questions correctly on the spot. I had answered them all correctly and rightfully was given the sweets to the teachers bemusement, however I felt bad and through all the candy/sweets in to the air and the whole class got their fair share.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

If someone's at a computer or device, I would agree with them that IT and computing can be very complicated and convoluted. However, every challenge in life can be met with a goal. I'd ask them what is their goal? What is it they'd like to achieve on the computer. Then one must break down their challenge in to individual parts, perhaps researching and learning about each one before completing your goal. Complex things can be confusing, but you can overcome them I'd say.
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I have many passions related to computing and non-computing activities. Regarding my art, I like to look at others work and discover new techniques and ways to make my self better as an artist. This includes watching videos that help me more with the complexities that come with 3D modelling. I enjoy the occasional video game such as FPS or an MMO as I like competitive matches where I play well and MMO's allow me to explore a different virtual and mysterious world. I also enjoy walking my dog around the parks and fields. He likes to run around in the mud so I have to bathe him to let him inside the house.
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

What makes me a Superprof in IT is my long time usage with computer systems and similar technologies. I know all the physical hardware components of a computer as I have assembled one myself and how it interacts with the software. I'm a jack of all trades with IT, which allows me to continue computer operations smoothly and handle problems with a focused and calm attitude. At school around age 13 I used to stay after school to be with the IT technician of my own volunteering. He showed me a lot of the infrastructure that allowed the schools IT systems to work and function which gave me a few privileges relating to the IT department of the school. Around age 15 I had work experience at a Search Engine Optimization company which taught me a lot about how the internet flowed freely and how networking was done. My project there was to create a replica network topology made of Raspberry-Pi micro computers to have data flow freely through each other and to represent my data found to the company through a presentation.
