About Mark

I’m a passionate piano tutor with over 14 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano Emphasis). My journey with the piano has led me to explore and teach a wide range of instruments, from Grand and Upright to Player, Digital, Classical, Electric Keyboard, and Acoustic Piano. I love showing students how each type of piano brings its own unique sound, feel, and experience to their playing. My lessons focus on much more than just reading notes—I specialize in chord theory, ear training, improvisation, and other creative tools that help students truly understand and express themselves through music. Over the years, I’ve worked with complete beginners discovering their first melodies, advancing students polishing performance skills, and even professionals aiming to deepen their artistry. I believe no two students are the same, so my teaching style is fully student-centered. For school learners, I keep things engaging and fun, while for adult and professional students, I provide tailored guidance that respects their goals and schedules. Whether it’s preparing for exams, learning for personal joy, or stepping onto a stage, I meet students exactly where they are. I’ve seen how the right mix of structure, support, and creativity can turn lessons into a lifelong passion. Learning piano should feel exciting, not intimidating, and every step forward should spark confidence. If you’re ready to explore the piano in a way that’s inspiring, personal, and full of possibility, I’d love to guide you on that journey!

My piano teaching approach is all about making music exciting and approachable for every student, no matter their age or experience level. I believe strong technique is the foundation of great playing, so I guide students step by step, ensuring their hands, posture, and finger strength develop naturally. Alongside that, I create simple, consistent practice routines that fit into busy lives, helping progress feel achievable and stress-free.

To keep lessons engaging, I mix classical gems with popular favorites, so students get to explore Bach and Beethoven alongside film scores, jazz standards, or even the latest chart hits. Music games and playful exercises keep younger learners motivated, while backing tracks let students of all ages feel like they’re performing with a full band.

I also focus on helping students connect emotionally to the music they play, making practice not just productive but personally meaningful. Whether someone is picking up piano for the first time, rediscovering it after years, or chasing bigger musical goals, I adjust my teaching style to meet them exactly where they are.

Some students come to piano for relaxation, others for performance—and I’m here to support both. My lessons are flexible, encouraging, and always fun, so students leave feeling inspired rather than overwhelmed. Over time, they don’t just play notes—they *make music*.

By combining structure with creativity, I help kids and adults alike grow into confident pianists who play with both skill and joy.
