About Ivy
I bring over 9 years of piano teaching experience and a Graduate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy to every lesson. My focus is on helping students connect emotionally with music while developing solid technique. Pedal control, dynamic shaping, and phrasing are emphasised throughout. Lessons are customised to each student’s skill level and musical goals. Beginners build a strong foundation, while advanced learners explore subtle nuances in expression. Sight-reading, musical analysis, and repertoire are incorporated seamlessly. I prioritise expressive interpretation alongside technical precision. Students are guided to discover their personal musical voice. Confidence, stage presence, and performance skills are nurtured naturally. Each lesson balances structure with creative exploration. Touch, tone, and articulation exercises reinforce expressive playing. Lessons are engaging, supportive, and inspiring. Together, we create meaningful, emotionally resonant musical experiences.

The approach emphasises developing strong sight-reading skills and accurate rhythm. Students practise recognising intervals, reading new pieces, and executing notes fluidly. The Child Prodigy benefits from intensive drills for rapid improvement. The Hobbyist Adult receives step-by-step guidance for consistent progress. Lessons include exercises in tempo control, articulation, and phrasing. Visual-to-finger coordination is built systematically. Sight-reading is paired with musical expression to ensure engaging practice. Students gain confidence in performing unfamiliar music. Each session balances technical precision with creativity. Pattern recognition and interval training are emphasised throughout. Lessons are goal-oriented, structured, and supportive. Mastery of reading improves overall performance and independence. Students leave equipped to play new music with confidence and ease.
