About Lyra
I’m a dedicated piano teacher with over 14 years of experience teaching both in-person and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, which has given me a strong foundation in both technique and artistry. My teaching is centered on active participation, musical intention, and building well-rounded musicianship. I believe that every student has a unique musical voice, and I tailor my lessons to match their individual learning style and goals. Whether you’re a beginner, an advanced student, or even at a professional level, I provide structured yet flexible guidance to support your growth. My approach blends music history, theory, technique, and creativity to deepen understanding and inspire curiosity. My piano teaching approach is fun, supportive, and built around each student's unique needs and goals. I work with both kids and adults, helping them develop strong technique and consistent practice habits from the very beginning. I use a mix of classical and popular songs to keep students motivated and musically curious. Backing tracks bring energy and rhythm to each piece, while music games make learning theory and sight-reading feel like play. For students looking for a calming, expressive outlet, I focus on emotional connection through gentle melodies and improvisation. Others who enjoy jazz or creative freedom dive into chord progressions, swing feel, and spontaneous soloing.
We explore posture, hand positioning, finger strength, and phrasing in a clear, encouraging way. Every lesson includes moments to reflect, adjust, and celebrate progress—no matter how big or small. I also incorporate ear training and rhythm exercises to sharpen listening and timing.
