About Lily
I am a piano teacher with over 9 years of experience teaching both in-person and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, which has provided me with a strong foundation in technique, theory, and musical interpretation. My teaching philosophy focuses on active participation and understanding the intent behind each piece. I aim to develop well-rounded musicianship, combining technique, creativity, and a deep appreciation for music. Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, whether they are beginners, advanced learners, or professional-level performers. I integrate music history, theory, and expressive playing into every lesson, ensuring that students not only play notes but also understand the music they create. My approach emphasises building confidence, nurturing creativity, and fostering a lifelong love of music. Over the years, I have helped students achieve goals ranging from mastering foundational skills to performing advanced repertoire with expression and poise. My piano teaching approach focuses on building both technical skill and musical understanding. I adapt lessons to suit individual goals, whether practising for exams, performing, or exploring music for enjoyment. I support students who are highly motivated, helping them refine skills quickly and confidently. For adult learners or hobbyists, I create engaging, step-by-step lessons that make progress visible and enjoyable. Improvisation, expression, and creativity are encouraged to develop a personal musical voice. Through consistent feedback, positive reinforcement, and practical exercises, students gain confidence at the keyboard. My goal is to make piano learning accessible, inspiring, and fun, while fostering a lifelong love of music.
