About Esther
I am a 21 year old History student studying in London, and somewhat miss my subjects at A-Level and GCSE, so I'm keen to get back into them!
I love reading, writing, and watching films. I especially love reading a good book and getting stuck into all the reviews after finishing it!
I know that teaching is a fantastic way to better understand topics yourself. I have firsthand experience as a student with 1-1 teaching (which is quite daunting!) and know that it is a great way to work on things you may find difficult and are less confident with.
I want my students to feel relaxed in my sessions and unafraid to make mistakes; I want them to be keen to learn and to explore a variety of new websites or techniques designed to help them. It is sometimes really hard to motivate yourself to work or revise, but using these fun, interactive sites will help.
Most of all, we all need confidence to help us through hard questions. I struggled with confidence when I was younger and therefore want my students to understand that my sessions are a judgment-free zone - I am here to help you achieve your absolute best.

I intend to help students improve their skills through a variety of exercises such as quizzes and using prompts to encourage independent thinking, introduce new ways of learning and memorising information, and at every stage will underline the relevance of what is being taught by directly linking it to mark schemes or past papers. I am keen to encourage students to approach new information or exercises with an open mind and to be confident with their skills so that they are prepared when faced with assessment-style situations.
I personally used a variety of online tools - like websites such as Sparknotes and 1Jour1Actu - which made learning more interactive and memorable, and would like to use these with students in our sessions whilst encouraging their independent use of them.
Typical length of a lesson would be 1 hour - enough time for a warm up/refresher exercise, the main core, and to recap/make some solid notes at the end.
I am most confident in English and History so am happy to deliver A-Level sessions to students aged 16-18.
For French I am looking to deliver sessions to students sitting GCSEs or below, up to age 16.
