Below you will find our advice on how to continue your lessons via webcam:
👨🏻💻 For one-on-one lessons, there are a number of different tools available.
Among the most popular are:
- Google Hangouts
- Don’t forget the telephone (particularly for language classes).
Easy to use and completely free, these tools will allow you to carry out your lessons through your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Let’s take the example of a foreign language class. All you'll need to do is follow these three simple steps:
- Download your chosen application
- Ask your student for their username
- Connect with your student at the scheduled time for your class
👨👧👦 If you would like to offer group classes, we would recommend using Discord or Google Hangouts.

This is a security measure for our tutors that we have put in place so that you are not damaged by the last-minute cancellations of your students.
You have to choose between the compensation of 0%, 50%, or 100% of the lesson price. You can set this from the Cancellation Policy page.
Make sure you get paid! We offer a secure lesson payment system, via your Superprof account.
In order for lessons to be paid online, you must click on the tab “propose a lesson”, from the site’s messaging system, and validate it with the student. You do this by clicking the "+" button at the bottom right of the conversation and offering a single lesson or packs of 5 -10 hours of lessons to your students.
The student will be able to pre-pay for the lesson by credit card or Paypal and this will automatically appear in your balance. The amount will then be paid to you 24 hours after the course has taken place (assuming no problem has been reported).
To receive this money you will need to approve a method of payment (Paypal) via which to receive your funds. As a reminder, be sure to schedule lessons directly in your Superprof calendar so we know when they are finished.
Please note that if you choose to be paid through Superprof a 10% commission will be taken from your hourly rate to cover administrative and transactional fees. If you sign up to the Premium Pass, however, this commission will be waived and you will keep 100% of the hourly lesson fee.
If you do not wish to use the secure payment system you are free to organise payments privately outside the website but at your own risk.

The Premium Pass is a $29 monthly subscription or a $108 yearly subscription. Both payments are automatically renewed.
Please note, you can cancel the subscription anytime by clicking 'Manage my profile', and then 'Account'.

The money for a lesson will appear in your account 24 hours after the lesson has taken place.
We have put this rule in place to give the student or tutor time to report any problems that may have occurred.
If the lesson is reported for some reason by the student or tutor, the amount will be blocked until the report was processed.
Don’t forget to add a payment method (Paypal account) to receive your balance!
It’s simple! Find your teacher or tutor through our search engine.
Choose your subject, your city or suburb, and that’s it! You’ll be able to access thousands of our best tutors & private teachers, who will be available to give lessons near you or via webcam.
Once you have run the initial search, you’ll be able to filter it depending on your level, budget and the distance you're willing to travel
When you have chosen your private teacher, you can contact him or her by clicking on the "Book a lesson" button, found on the top right corner of the listing.
We ask our teachers to be as transparent as possible when creating their listings; carefully outlining their experience, methodology and even including a short CV.
Verification of their qualification and personal details
We verify the identity, personal details (telephone number, e-mail address, photo) and the qualification of all of our teachers.
100% authentic reviews – The strength of the community
We verify all of the reviews and recommendations that our teachers receive to guarantee that they are 100% authentic. Only our members can leave reviews. So you can rest assured knowing that our teachers are excellent, competent and available thanks to our community of millions of students!
Both their ratings (eg. 5/5) and their response time (eg.1 hour) are displayed and refreshed in real time.
You can also see the teacher's last connection on Superprof so that you can check their recent activity on the site.
Recommendations from their former students and students parents
The reviews and recommendations the teachers receive from their former students can give you clear insight into the quality of their lessons and their teaching style.
If it has been 7 days since your first lesson, all you need to do is log in and leave them a review.
If it hasn’t been 7 days, you’ll have to wait a little!

In order to message teachers on our site, you will need to subscribe to our Student Pass. The subscription costs $39/month and is not related to any individual teacher's rate. The monthly subscription essentially gives you access to the site and our teachers and is renewed on a rolling basis until you deactivate the subscription (through your dashboard). The Student Pass subscription allows you to message as many teachers as you want during the time your subscription is active.
Your subscription is only activated, if and when, a teacher accepts your lesson request. If the teacher has not accepted your request, but you see that the $39 appears to be missing from your account, it is due to the bank holding your payment. You have not been debited, but it is merely being blocked to guarantee payment in case a teacher accepts the request.
If your request is accepted and you later discover that the lesson can not go ahead, you will be able to get a refund as long as you can show through email/SMS that the lesson did not take place.
To optimise the chances of a teacher accepting your request, make sure to put as much information in your message as possible. Also, don't forget you are free to contact as many teachers as you like.
You can either take your lessons offline, and organise payments privately between yourself and the tutor, or, you can pre-pay for lessons beforehand by paying through Superprof.
We strongly recommend that you use Superprof to manage your payments as it adds a level of security to the process. If the lesson does not take place or there are any issues you can report them and dispute the payment within 24 hours of the lesson finishing.
After a tutor accepts a request you will be asked to organise the first lesson. Before the lesson is confirmed you will need to fund your account with the lesson fee. This money is held by us until 24 hours after the lesson takes place and then sent to the tutor.
If you book a 5h or 10h lesson pack, you will be debited the full amount, to begin with. The tutor will receive the amount in two parts, the first 50% after acceptance and the second 50% when all the hours of the course have been scheduled and completed.
You are free to cancel your Student Pass at any time. To do, just log into your Dashboard and head to the Student Pass tab.
Refunds are given in certain circumstances. If the tutor accepts your request but turns out to be unavailable or unsuitable, you may be eligible for a refund. Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with proof that the lesson hasn't gone ahead. This evidence (it can be a screenshot of an email/SMS) is necessary in order to receive a refund of the Student Pass.
