Find expert aviation tutors in Jandakot

Learning aviation combines theoretical study with practical flight hours from the very beginning.

• Ground school and theory: the first stage covers aircraft systems, air law, navigation, and weather reading, giving you the knowledge base every pilot needs.
• Class 2 Medical Certificate: a medical assessment with a CASA-approved aviation medical examiner confirms your fitness to fly before you invest heavily in training.
• Enrolling with a registered flight school: a reputable flight school pairs you with a certificated flying instructor for dual lessons in the aircraft alongside your ground studies.
• Student Pilot Licence and solo flight: the Student Pilot Licence allows you to fly solo as part of your training, building the hours needed for your Recreational or Private Pilot Licence.

Private coaching lets you set your own pace and focus on the areas where you need the most support.

In Jandakot, expect to pay about $50/h for an aviation lesson.

This rate varies depending on several factors:

• The stage of training (ground school theory, dual instruction, or exam preparation)
• The instructor's qualifications, flying hours, and teaching background
• The package you choose — one-off lessons or a structured block
• Where the sessions take place and what resources are included

Online theory sessions are often more affordable while remaining highly effective for exam preparation.

Certain medical conditions and background checks can affect your eligibility to hold a pilot licence.

• Medical conditions: CASA assesses conditions such as heart disease, epilepsy, and severe mental health diagnoses individually — some are managed conditions that still permit flying.
• Vision and hearing standards: hearing must be sufficient to understand radio communications clearly; CASA's vision requirements vary by licence class and are tested during your aviation medical.
• Criminal history and security checks: a criminal background does not automatically disqualify you from a pilot licence, but offences involving dishonesty, violence, or drugs are assessed carefully.
• Drug and alcohol regulations: a history of substance dependency may require documented rehabilitation and specialist clearance before a medical certificate is granted.

Private coaching gives you access to someone who knows the regulatory landscape and can help you plan the most realistic path forward.
