The 90-degreerule is a cart path guideline used on many golf courses to protect the fairway.

• The rule explained: You follow the path, then turn perpendicularly onto the fairway to access your ball.
• Why it exists: It limits the area of grass exposed to cart wheels, keeping the course in better condition.
• When it applies: Always check the scorecard or ask the pro shop whether the 90-degree rule is in effect.
• Practical tip: Head directly to your ball, take your shot, and drive back to the path to minimise turf damage.

Knowing these guidelines is part of being a courteous and knowledgeable golfer on any course.

In Macgregor, expect to pay about $85/h for an hour of golf tuition.

This rate varies depending on several factors:

• The level of study (junior, adult beginner, competitive)
• The instructor's credentials and coaching track record
• The package you choose (one-off or regular block)
• Where the sessions take place

Most coaches offer a trial lesson so you can assess their teaching style before committing.

The 80/20 rule in golf suggests that 80% of your results come from just 20% of your efforts and focus areas.

• Short game priority: Most amateur golfers gain the biggest improvement by focusing on wedge play and putting rather than the full swing.
• Swing mechanics: A few key corrections — like grip pressure or alignment — often eliminate the bulk of recurring errors.
• Pre-shot routine: The 20% investment in a reliable routine pays dividends across every shot you play.
• Course strategy: Playing away from hazards and accepting conservative lines protects your scorecard on the holes where most strokes are lost.

Working smarter, not harder, is the key — and the 80/20 rule gives you a clear framework to do exactly that.
