About Hao

Hi, I am Hao.

I am a PhD candidate in Human-Computer Interaction at Swinburne University of Technology and a Teaching Associate for FIT1045 (Introduction to Programming in Python) at Monash University. Earlier, at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), I taught Python programming to a cohort of 180 undergraduates and Game Design to 35 students, receiving the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.

I hold a Master of Philosophy in Computer Science and Engineering from CUHK, as well as Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Software Engineering and Digital Media Technology from Xiamen University (Excellent Graduate). Before my PhD, I worked for two years as a software engineer and research team leader on robotics and interactive systems at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and I have published 10 peer-reviewed papers in venues including IEEE, ACM and OzCHI.

Alongside my university teaching, I tutor TAFE game development coursework one-on-one in Melbourne, adapting lessons to each student's pace and learning style. I hold a current Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC), and I teach in English and Mandarin.

I help you reach your own programming goals, understand core computer science logic, and write code with confidence.

Whether you are taking a university programming unit (such as Monash FIT1045 or introductory CS and Game Design units), studying TAFE game development, preparing for VCE Software Development or Algorithmics, or learning to code from scratch, we start from where you are and what you need.

Each lesson is 60 minutes. I explain one clear concept at a time, we work through examples together via live coding, and then you practise solving problems independently so the logic truly sticks.

------------------------
Who I Work With & What I Teach
------------------------
- University & TAFE Students: Having designed and graded university coding assessments myself, I help you unpack lab and assignment specifications (including Python units like FIT1045), structure clean code, test edge cases, and debug errors step by step.
- Game Development Learners (Unity & C#): Aspiring game makers and younger students learn programming by building playable 2D/3D games in Unity and C#. By the end of every lesson, you have something working that you can play.
- VCE & High School Students: Structured practice aligned with VCE Software Development and Algorithmics requirements.

I teach online by default. I can also teach in person in Melbourne's inner east, with a parent at home for students under 18.
