About Anthony
My name is Anthony Bruno.
I am a qualified Development Coach and competitive Open Water Swimmer. I have won Gold medals in the 2025 Mentone Open Water Swim Men's 10km wetsuit category, The Swim Port Stephens Men's 10km swim as part of the SBR weekend in June 2023, the Williamstown open water challenge 5km in 2023, and the Mentone Marathon 10km in 2021.
I have been competing in open water and triathlon since 2018. I started coaching in 2021 and have coached hundreds of swimmers, including triathletes and open water advocates.

Your first lesson will include a mandatory video analysis. Every swimmer needs to see themselves swim so they know what to work on. The lesson will begin with a video analysis. We will then correct your stroke for majority of the lesson. We will finish the lesson with a final swim to notice all the improvements we have made.
If you sign up for multiple lessons, I will be in contact with you, sending you drills and guiding you on what to focus on between lessons.
We will be focusing on TECHNIQUE. Most swimmers tend to try and muscle their way through the water or apply power at the wrong time and in the wrong directions. Swimming is quite technical. I teach in a way that breaks swimming down into pieces to make it easier to understand and then help you to put the pieces together.
The only way to carry out 1 on 1 private lessons where I am in the water with you is in a public lane. Private lessons in public pools are seen as a conflict of interest. I can inquire into lane hire for a group or 1 on 1 session, however I will be coaching from out of the water and there may be increased fees.
I am located in the northern suburbs. Travel distances of more than 20km will incure a $30 fee.

Perfect! My first session with Anthony exceeded my expectations! He makes a perfect open water coach, and immediately picked up my strength and limitations. He even noticed that I was holding my breath underwater (still can't figure out how he does that :p). Learned alot from my first session and left with lots of advice and drills to practice on in the swimming pool untill the next session.
