About Rosa
I graduated from the University of Leeds with a 1st Class Honours degree in Sociology in 2012. Since then I have been tutoring Sociology A level students every year, studying with various examining boards (not just WJEC). I have been happy to see significant improvements in the grades achieved by my students, sometimes as dramatically as going from Cs to As within a few months. I also work for a charity in central Cardiff, and until recently I worked as a freelance proofreader and copy editor for academics and post-graduate students. I am a fluent Welsh speaker and can offer tutoring through the medium of Welsh.

I tailor my tutoring to the individual needs and circumstances of the tutee. I will begin each lesson by checking how their school lessons are going and if there is anything in particular that they wish to cover that day. We can work on homework, building on the feedback from their school teacher, as well as setting achievable targets to aim for. I have found that the key to success is twofold: providing engaging and interesting work for the student according to their own individual needs, and the hard work of the student themselves. I make a point of building rapport early so that students want to learn and see the value of what is a wonderful subject.
Exam technique often plays a big part in the lessons I provide as it is an area of weakness for so many. I also increasingly provide my own revision notes for students, which I've been told are very helpful.

Details
I offer tutoring from my own home but I am willing to travel to the student's house where there is public transport available (I do not have a car, but live near one of the busiest bus routes in the city). In those circumstances, I ask that my travel costs be reimbursed. I am also happy to tutor in a suitable public place and/or for the parent to sit in on the lesson (particularly the first). I also offer online tuition via Skype.
