About Shaani
I'm Shaani, a Master's student in Optometry at University. Alongside my degree, I've worked in clinical and patient-facing environments, which has given me a lot of experience explaining complex ideas clearly and patiently to people of all ages. I've always enjoyed helping others learn - I currently volunteer with the Teddy Bear Hospital scheme at University, working with young children, and have been tutoring KS2-KS5 students for 4 years. I tutor 11+ and 13+ as I remember how daunting the exam can feel, and I'd love to help students build both the skills and the confidence to do themselves justice on the day, as well as getting into the school that's best for them.

My lessons are structured, encouraging, and focused on building understanding and confidence rather than just memorising answers. I break down each topic - from Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning to English and Maths - into manageable steps, checking understanding as we go rather than rushing ahead. I use plenty of past papers and timed practice closer to exams, but I balance this with explaining the reasoning behind each question type, so students can tackle tricky unfamiliar problems on the day with confidence. Every child learns differently, so I adapt my approach to what works best for them. Having got 8 A*s at GCSE, 2 A*s in A-Levels and a 1:1 at university, I implement the science-backed techniques I use and tailor them to each student and topic in the exam. A typical lesson is 1 hour, however I also offer longer lessons if you would prefer. My goal is making your child succeed in the 11+ exam, whilst also instilling confidence and helping them reach their full potential.
