My teaching method works around engagement and understanding. Basically helping students translate problems into simpler terms which they can understand. I like to approach each topic as another building block which is a part of a monument of math. This encourages students to learn that all math topics are connected to one another in some way.
Breaking down the steps is one of the most important steps in solving a problem, once you’ve got the smaller bits figured out, connecting the dots should be a piece of cake. I think of solving a problem like fixing a broken object. You break it down and find the piece which is unusual and then change it, after that you put all the pieces back together and you have a fixed problem!
This method helps a lot because it paints a picture which portrays that math itself is one big object which has plenty of broken pieces which can be fixed and put back together
