About Sophie
My name is Sophie. I'm 19 years old and am studying Law this year after taking a gap year working with high school children in the UK. I have worked with countless children from all different backgrounds in both the UK and Australia, specialising in English. Having excelled in both English Advanced and English Extension 1 in the HSC in 2022, I have an in depth knowledge of the subjects and how to maximise results. I am passionate about learning and enjoy helping others reach their potential, no matter their skillset. I have worked with a range of high school children and genuinely love helping students grow and develop. Although often perceived as a challenging subject, I believe English can be made easy, and would love to help students achieve their personal best!

I believe in a personalised approach to tutoring based on the specific needs of the student, focusing on key skills such as essay writing, textual analysis, creative writing and exam technique. As each student is unique, I base approach entirely on their current skillsets and goals they would like to achieve.
I finished Year 12 in 2022 so I have a thorough understanding of the NSW English Advanced and Extension 1 syllabus materials. I have also tutored a number of children aged Year 7 to 10 in skills such as paragraph structuring, textual analysis and communicating their ideas in short answer and extended responses. I have received one-to-one creative writing lessons since I was 14, so I have a deep understanding of how to construct creative pieces.
I enjoy tutoring students of any age but specialise in tutoring those currently in high school.
I am flexible about the length of lessons and time that they take place. I am currently in Canberra studying Law, but I am also available for online lessons.
