About Adel
Hi there! My name is Adel, and I am a 2022 HSC graduate, who received a 98.60 ATAR and a State Rank of 5th in English Advanced. I am currently taking a gap year after the past two years of intense study, and am enjoying riding my horses, reading a wide variety of books, and doing a variety of part time work (hospitality, baby sitting, freelance journalism, and soon some reception work for a local solicitor).
I am also looking forward to some travel - soon I will be going to WA to see the Total Solar Eclipse, and I am planning on visiting family in England during the Northern Hemisphere's summer. Next year I plan to begin a Bachelor of Law at Monash University, or a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, and I hope to eventually gain a PhD, as my vocational dream is to work as a Public Prosecutor and to improve the legal system's efficacy in protecting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. However, I am also extremely passionate about writing; academic essays, news articles, opinion pieces, poetry and fiction, all of which I have experience in crafting.
I completed my HSC in 2022, studying English Advanced, English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Ancient History, Legal Studies, and Society and Culture. I got an ATAR of 98.60, received a State Rank of 5th (out of a 24 661 students) in English Advanced, and am on the 2022 Distinguished Achievers list. I also received the Principal's Award (1st in the year out of internal assessments) and Dux (the highest ATAR with the best performances during the HSC) at my school. I came 1st internally in English Advanced, English Extension 1, Ancient History, and Legal Studies, 2nd in Society and Culture, and 3rd in English Extension 2.
My HSC marks:
Ancient History - 94/100
English Advanced - 98/100
English Extension 1 - 49/50
English Extension 2 - 46/50
Legal Studies - 97/100
Society and Culture - 89/100
I would love to help current Year 11 and 12 students with any and all of these subjects. I simply cannot say which subject was my favourite during my study, as I thoroughly enjoyed the content covered in each. Although Society and Culture was my weakest performing subject, I absolutely adored the PIP component, which opened my eyes to my love for reading and writing scholarly articles. For English Extension 2, I wrote a 3000 word poetic suite as a foray into my own long form poetry. Legal Studies made me realise that I want to become a lawyer, and that I can get lost in legislation and cases for hours on end. Ancient History enabled me to understand the foundation on which modern society is built on, and Advanced English and English Extension 1 were classes where I could analyse literature and write essays (a genuine passion and skill of mine).

Having just completed my HSC, I am perfectly suited to tutoring high school students in years 11 and 12, as my own experience of sitting the exams, assessment expectations and course work are fresh in my mind. Throughout my time at high school, I would offer my services to my peers; helping them to plan and draft assignments, giving them exam tips and preparation, and editing their work (cutting down on the word count/increasing the word count, polishing grammar and structure, etc). I have also been tutoring my younger brother throughout his time at primary school, and am continuing to support him as he begins Year 7. Thus, I have experience tutoring all school aged children, with particular skill in aiding Year 11s and 12s in completing their HSC. I can also assist with creating study/exam schedules and routines, and staying on track with coursework. I am friendly, approachable, polite and patient, and prioritise helping my students to complete their own work, using me as an extra pair of eyes to solidify their ideas and guide their work during our hour long sessions.
I will travel within 15km from Mullumbimby free of charge; between 15 and 50km from Mullumbimby and I charge a flat rate of an additional $10. I can come to your home, or meet you at a public space (such as the Mullumbimby Library or the Byron Bay Library). I can tutor anyone online via Zoom.
