About Joel

Hi my name is Joel. I have a verified rating of 2200 online which places me in the top 1% on chess.com.

Chess has been a huge passion of mine for over half a decade. I have drawn a huge inspiration from many top players including- Kasparov, Magnus, Tal, Alekhine and recently Judit Polgar.
I have spent many years constantly reading, analysing, playing games and teaching friends and family the beauty of chess; so the feeling of climbing the ladder from a complete beginner to expert level player is still fresh in my mind.

I welcome students of all ages from (ages 6 and up) to adults looking to improve their chess skills. My coaching style is built on patience, encouragement, and making the learning process genuinely fun.

I love sharing the game with others, and my goal is to help you build confidence, while making it an enjoyable and instructive experience.

About the lesson

Depending on the goals and skills of the student; our sessions will usually include a section of reviewing your games - for example, identifying repeated mistakes, tactical habits or positional blind spots.

We will be going through many puzzles as well as historical and top level chess games.

I known how confusing and tiresome can be studying the openings; so instead of memorizing endless lines, I will teach you the underlying plans, and strategic goals behind each move.

Towards the end of the lesson we will be playing a quick game to evaluate your progress.

Lesson Online will be via- Zoom.
In-person (London Area) with a physical Chess board.
There will usually be homework provided after every lesson.
