About Rafael
I am a very passionate student teacher in my 3rd year of my Education degree. Being an immigrant myself who came from Indonesia in 2016 (I was in year 8), I understand how confusing the English language can be. I also understand the struggles of adapting to a new country and new culture. Moving to a new country can be scary but also exciting. I can help support you with your journey and make sure you make the most out of it. I would also love to hear about your stories!

Get support for your child's literacy skills! I mainly use questioning in my practice, where I ensure students are actually understanding concepts by eliciting a response, rather than just giving them the answer. I tutor literacy and English as an Additional Language (EAL) in 1.5 to 2-hour sessions, and can help develop your child's literacy skills in reading comprehension, verbal fluency, essay structuring, and writing. I am also a native Indonesian speaker, so I can tutor VCE Indonesian as well. I can either help your child with their homework, or I can provide them with work. I am currently in my 3rd year of completing a Bachelors in Secondary Education and Arts, and I currently work at Cranbourne Secondary College as a literacy tutor and Education support staff. In my literacy tutor role, I work with many EAL students with their English literacy.
Being an immigrant and ex EAL student myself, I understand how confusing the English language can be, so I know how to best support newly immigrated students with their English literacy.
