About Leo
Self-taught players often feel like they are wandering in the dark until they find a clear path. I remember sitting in my room in Seattle trying to map out fretboard logic before I finally headed to the Musicians Institute in Hollywood to earn my Diploma in Music Performance. Working with beginners, hobbyists, and advanced adults keeps my own playing sharp and grounded.
I have spent 13 years helping people bridge the gap between wanting to play and actually making music happen. Having guided 400 students to their goals, I know exactly where the frustration sets in. My style is jazz-adjacent, meaning I prioritize that Norah Jones or Diana Krall feel in the way I teach guitar and vocal work. Do you ever feel like your practice sessions lack a real sense of direction?

Playing a song at a party or finishing a home recording starts with building a solid foundation of rhythm guitar and scale knowledge. We will tackle reading tabs, sheet music, barre chords, and modes to ensure you understand what is happening on your fretboard. Because I spent 13 years performing in Seattle and beyond, I know how to focus on the essential techniques that actually matter.
My students get a practice module with every lesson to keep momentum strong between our meetings. This structure keeps you from getting stuck on the same chord shape for 3 months. You might find that once the mechanics click, the joy of playing simply takes over.
It is about steady progress toward your EP or that specific party song you have been meaning to learn. We move at your pace to ensure you feel confident holding the instrument. I want to make sure you have the tools to play without thinking too hard about the notes. Sometimes the best progress just happens quietly.
