About Ty

My service stands out because I take pride in the work I do and I dont stop if someone doesn't understand something, I find ways around it instead of blaming it on them.

I enjoy knowing I'm making a difference for someone else.

In sophomore year of highschool I had a 97% in geometry so my teacher offered to give me extra credit during the 2nd semester to start tutoring 3 of the kids in my class whose grades werent passing. He said if I was able to tutor them and get atleast one of them a passing grade by the end of the year he would bump my grade up by 5%, I tutored them everyday after school for 2 hours each day and it ended with 2 out of the 3 kids I tutored got their grades up from an F to a B and the other kid got a C- so my teacher ended up bumping my grade up by 10% and I passed the class with a 107%. That was my first experience with teaching, at first I was only doing it for extra credit cause I had never gotten an actual A+ on my report card before, but after about a week I realized i didnt even care about the grade, it just felt really good to know I was making an actual difference for someone else. To this day, me and one of the kids who got a B are still really close friends.

Math is really my best subject, it makes sense to me and I've always managed to get an A in every math related course I've ever been in. I find myself useing it alot throughout the day and especially when I work my part-time pest control job and they need me to give them exact measurements for a seal or vent, it definitely comes in handy.

About the lesson

I like to read over what they need help with then give them a few problems just to see how much they know so I'll know exactly how to help them properly. I also like to try and make it fun for them (especially kids) so they actually retain the information.

All types, as long as you can speak English I will find a way to help you one way or another.

When picking a math teacher pick someone who makes you understand/remember the formulas, if after a session you cant recall even 1 formula then they didnt do they're job properly. When I teach I also usually like to research before I go to the students house and find out how exactly what they're doing applies to the real world and what jobs use it everyday, my teacher used to do that for me because I would always get in trouble for saying things like "When are we ever gonna use this?" during class but eventually she started printing out all the uses for each lecture before coming into class and I remember everytime she would show me the list of uses and occupations, I would immediately become 1000% more interested in what she was saying and become alot more motivated to learn about it.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Instead of going up to the teacher and saying "I need help with this one." You should explain better and be more specific by saying things like: "So for number 12 I plugged in the formula and I got all the way to this step of the equation but now I'm confused and I dont really understand what I'm doing wrong but its throwing me off." that way the teacher knows exactly where to look/help them and it gives them an better idea of how your getting the wrong answer.

Details

No, I'm very open to pricing, especially when it's close or when they're willing to drive to me. I'm a college student about to be attending Santa Monica this year and I already work a full time job but I genuinely just enjoy helping others and working with kids so this is more of a hobby for me than an actual job.
