About Michael

I have a passion for helping students struggling with STEM coursework. I have been in your shoes! As a recent gradaute of the University of Illinois with a degree in Industrial Engineering, I have a deep and functional understanding of many core STEM concepts, and how they relate and build on one another. During my time at the University, I tutored several students, and led a class first-year engineering students. Whether you are looking to bump up your grade, get into college, or gain advice on finding a job, I am more than happy to help!

I love helping others achieve their learning goals. There is nothing more satisfying than finally grasping a concept that you have struggled with for some time!

I taught my first class in college. It was an introductory engineering course, in which I helped first-year Industrial Engineering students get acclimated to life as an engineering student.

I have a bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, with advanced coursework in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science. I have also taken several introductory business courses, and work as a full-time Microsoft Cloud technology consultant.

About the lesson

I typically like to spend some time in our first session gaining a better understanding of what it is you would like to get out of my services. I also like to create measureable, achievable goals, that we can track throughout the course of our time together. Finally, I like to ask if there are any special considerations, or methods in which you learn best. If so, I will do my best to employ those. If you are unsure, we can try various methods to see what works best for you!

You may have a teacher that is a master of all of the concepts, but is not good at conveying them to you. In order to get the most out of your tutoring experience, you want to ensure that you have a tutor whose teaching style aligns with your learning style!

I recently went on a backpacking trip through the Grand Canyon. A few friends and I hiked from the North Rim to the South Rim in a few days. It was an incredible experience, and one that I hope to revisit soon!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What do I want to get out of this experience? (i.e. raise my grade, understand a particular concept, get into college, etc.)

2. What concepts do you struggle with the most? What concepts do you have a solid grasp on? Thinking through this ahead of time will allow us to focus on the areas which you most need improvement.

3. What teaching style works best for you? (i.e. do you prefer listening to lectures, walking through demonstrations, etc.)
